Wildberries summed up the results of the year
One of the largest online stores of fashion clothing, shoes and accessories Wildberries summed up the results of the past year.
Sales peaked in December. The number of orders in the New Year period amounted to 9.7 million (12.3% of the total for the year). In the last week of December, the company's employees processed about 15 orders per second. Compared to last year, the number of orders during this period more than doubled, in 2017 it amounted to 4.7 million units (44.8 million orders for the whole of 2017).In total, the company processed 79 million orders in 2018.
In total, in December 2018, goods worth 16 billion rubles were sold on Wildberries. The most productive shopping week was the New Year's Eve: in the period from December 24 to December 31, buyers purchased goods worth 4.6 billion rubles, which is 25% more than in the usual period. During the same period in 2017, goods worth 2.5 billion rubles were sold. The number of unique buyers in December 2018 reached 2.9 million people. For comparison, in December 2017, their number was 1.4 million.
The most popular products on Wildberries before the New Year were the traditional categories of dresses, suits, boots, down jackets and children's goods. At the same time, residents of Russia, Kazakhstan and Armenia more often bought evening dresses, and Belarus and Kyrgyzstan - books.
Gadgets, electronics and household appliances were also in demand among Wildberries customers in the New Year period: during the last week of December, 340 million rubles worth of goods in this category were sold on the site. In the total turnover of the company in December, this segment increased by 2 times - from 3% to 6%.
The company has big plans for 2019. The share of the beauty segment will be increased to 10%, the categories of books, electronics, food and fashion will continue to develop.
In the near future Wildberries plans to expand the range of the premium segment: the store will feature brands such as Pal Zileri, Roberto Cavalli, Versace collection, Versace shoes, G-star and many others. It is expected that the expansion of the range will also affect the preferences of customers during the New Year sales in 2019.
