Winners of Textile Design Talents Solstudio Award 2019
March 19, 2019 as part of the opening of The winners of the largest international textile design competition Textile Design Talents Solstudio Award 2019 were announced at the Expocentre Fairgrounds. The competition is held by Solstudio Textile Group with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Soyuzlegprom and the exhibition "Intertkan". Its goal is to support talented artists, draw the attention of professionals of all industries to them and create conditions for growth in the industry. This year, more than 500 designers from 123 cities and 24 countries took part in the competition.
Design is the engine of light industry. With the advent and development of digital printing, interest in textile design is constantly growing. But it is not enough to have modern equipment, it must be accompanied by strong and in-demand ideas that will be embodied in the product and affect sales. Russian textile artists are becoming a significant driving force of world fashion, and we are beginning to gain international fame as a new world school of textile design.
The strongest international jury of the competition Textile Design Talents Solstudio Award 2019 reviewed more than 3,000 works of participants. The winners were awarded and congratulated by: Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov; President of Soyuzlegprom Andrey Razbrodin; founder of Solstudio Textile Group Alexandra Kaloshina.
"Very interesting tasks were chosen for the competition: the topic of water is very relevant, and argyle allows you to take a fresh look at the familiar and traditional. In general, we can note a rather weak sense of color and color combinations, but at the same time many participants have excellent drawing technique. Some works lack a sense of proportion when "repeating", commented on the first results David Sha, founder of the international magazine Textile View, a member of the jury of the competition.
Winners of the contest
- I place – Nana Totibadze (Moscow). The prize is a paid internship in the design department of the world's leading textile factory Ratti S.p.A. Marzotto Group (Como);
- II place – Nadezhda Grechina (Como, Italy). The prize is a certificate from the Fashion Factory School business School for any course of study;
- III place Anastasia Kurbatova (Moscow). The prize is a paid digital printing on the fabric of a print collection consisting of 10 drawings at the choice of the winner, at the Solstudio Industry factory.
Prizes in special nominations were provided by the partners of the contest: the brand Alena Ahmadullina, companies Epson and Pantone.

We believe that the main goal of the competition has been achieved – new names of young and talented designers have been discovered.
