The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Kirov region organized a round table for light industry enterprises to present and discuss a new project for the development of the industry in the region. The discussion was attended by the Minister of Industrial Policy Andrey Pereskokov, the manager of the Kirov branch of the Volga-Vyatka Bank of Sberbank Artem Pischik, as well as the heads of light industry enterprises.

Within the framework of the event, a draft strategy for the development of light industry in the Kirov region was presented, developed on behalf of the Deputy Chairman of the regional Government Maxim Kochetkov to improve industrial policy and increase the competitiveness of high-tech industries. According to Mr. Kochetkov, among the key areas of work of the regional government in the framework of the development of the industry is the implementation of new investment projects that will allow enterprises to master high-tech production of components for the leather and footwear segment. Also, the new project is designed to restore lost positions in the fur industry and return the region to the title of "Vyatka" capital of fur. The project was developed in accordance with the strategy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and was unanimously supported by the business community of light industry. It is planned to coordinate the document with the federal agency in the near future.

During the round table, representatives of the bank spoke about the trends in the development of light industry in Russia and the world, and also presented their services to the heads of enterprises.

As noted during the round table Andrey Pereskokov, light industry is a socially significant sector of the region's economy. The industry contributes to the reduction of social tension and the development of small and micro-businesses. The amount of tax revenues from the light industry enterprises of the Kirov region in 2017 to the consolidated budget of the Russian Federation amounted to more than 650 million rubles, which is almost 30% higher than in 2016.

After the official part of the event, a demonstration of light industry products from manufacturers of the Kirov region took place, which was attended by: shoe factory «Lel», JSC «Kirov Knitting Factory», LLC «Mekhouse», LLC «Animal Husbandry «Vyatka», LLC «Vakhrushi Litobuv» and others.
