11–12 October 2017 in Moscow, in The Russian State University named after A.N. Kosygin,hosted an International Scientific and Technical Forum"The first International Kosygin Readings" on the topic "Modern problems of engineering sciences". The Forum was held with the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

The centerline of the Forum was the problematic of the place, role and tasks of engineering sciences in modern Russian society. The main directions of increasing labor productivity, current problems of import substitution, energy and resource conservation, environmental and industrial safety, quality of manufactured products and other topics were discussed.

The Forum caused a great resonance in the scientific community and became a platform for joint work of many Russian and foreign scientists and practitioners, organizers of science. The Forum received greetings from Federation Council of the Russian Federation, The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Association of Technical Universities of Russia, a number of other public and research organizations and universities.

The main organizers of the forum were: Kosygin Russian State University (RSU), Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations, D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society, Russian Engineering Academy.

The Forum was attended by representatives of leading Russian universities and research organizations, such as the A.N. Kosygin Russian State University, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, the N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Research University "MEI", St. Petersburg-St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Ivanovo State Polytechnic University, the Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Innovators, the Center for International Industrial Cooperation of UNIDO in the Russian Federation and many others.

Following the results of the Forum, it was published in 6 volumes of516 plenary and sectional reports, the authors of which were more than 700 authors from Russia and other countries. More than 1,400 people took part in the plenary session and in the breakout sessions of the Forum. More than 1,300 people have registered on the Forum website and remotely familiarized themselves with the Forum materials presented on the website.
