Let's mark everything!

In the next two years, it is planned to introduce labeling of a number of goods in Russia: leather shoes, outerwear, suits, blouses, shirts, bed linen and textiles for the dining room, said Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade. As an example, he cited the successful operation of the marking system for fur products.

Prices will not increase due to the introduction of labeling, because a different approach will be applied to labeling: the cheaper the cost of the product, the cheaper the labels. "The industry community had concerns that this process would affect the final cost of products. I can assure you all that this is not happening and will not happen. For the light industry, the best solution would be to apply a QR and Data Matrix code to the goods," Manturov stressed.

Marking with control labels is the most effective measure in the fight against illegal trafficking of goods. "Gray" schemes deprive legitimate businesses of "colossal income".

Rospotrebnadzor intends to conduct control purchases, which will help to mitigate the risks of entering the shelves of unmarked goods and ensure control over compliance with technical regulations. "We expect that in the first half of next year, the relevant amendments will be made to the regulatory legal acts,"said Mr. Manturov.

In August 2016, Russia introduced the marking of fur coats and other fur products with RFID tags. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the volume of legal turnover of fur coats (in pieces) increased over the year by more than 12 times. The volume of retail sales amounted to 55 billion rubles., which is 6 times higher than in 2015. The introduction of labeling of fur products also affected customs payments, the volume of which increased by almost $9 million..
