Russian Post and VTB Bank develop online commerce

On February 6th, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the head of VTB, Andrey Kostin, said that the bank and the Russian Post are working together to create a modern the all-Russian high-tech logistics platform for online commerce.

 

«Our interaction with «Russian Post» is not limited only to «Post Bank». I would like to propose our new initiative, which we have just started implementing, the creation of a modern all-Russian high-tech logistics platform for online commerce. It's no secret that online trading is now developing very actively.

According to Mr. Kostin, VTB is considering the possibility of investing 30 billion rubles in the creation of 40 logistics distribution centers of the Russian Post and is negotiating with foreign partners for co-investment., including from China. The project is planned to be implemented within the next two to three years.

The creation of modern logistics, which will become an infrastructure platform for the development of online services in the country, is a strategic priority of the Russian Post. We would be glad to extend the successful experience of cooperation with VTB Group in the banking sector and in the field of joint construction of an open logistics infrastructure.

Earlier, the head of "Russian Post" announced plans to reduce the delivery time of parcels to 36 hours within five years. To do this, «Russian Post» needs to completely upgrade the delivery infrastructure, which will require at least 50 billion rubles. At the moment, «Russian Post» has two large logistics centers in Moscow (near Vnukovo Airport) and in Kazan.
