For many years now, the central role of production for industrial policy in Europe has remained indisputable. Brand Made in Italy, an integral part of European production, has long been known for the excellent quality of products produced under this label. Italian manufacturers are directly interested in establishing at the EU level a norm that introduces mandatory indication of the country of origin of the so-called marking "Made in" (Made in). This issue is still unresolved, and at the business mission in Brussels Assocalzaturifici again attracted the attention of Italian and European government agencies to it.

Comments Annarita Pilotti,President of Assocalzaturifici: "We have been fighting for more than ten years at all institutional levels to draw the EU's attention to the need to adopt a law protecting the level of quality and the right of European consumers to know what they are buying by introducing mandatory labeling by country of origin. As part of this struggle, a standing Committee was established three years ago as part of the delegation of the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria) in Brussels in order to ensure effective interaction with EU institutions.

Comments Enrico Ciccola, Authorized Representative of President Pilotti on the issue of Made in Confindustry: "We must act quickly if we want to avoid the closure of not only our shoe companies, but also entire districts, which will certainly entail disastrous professional and social consequences. It is for this reason that I repeat to all Italian political forces:Regardless of who wins the next European elections, it is necessary that they unite and support our request for the introduction of an EU standard to protect our products. Marking Made in should become a priority for Italy in Europe. Over the past ten years, together with the Confindustry, we have been insisting on the introduction of standards to ensure that the end user is informed about the geographical origin of the product. This is a "clash of civilizations" in which we are not going to give up an inch.
