The world's first sneakers for growth
4Steps is a revolutionary running shoe for growth.
Designer from Italy, Michele Di Carlo, presented innovative sneakers that can increase in size as the child's feet grow. The development of the "growing" 4Steps sneakers took more than five years, reports designboom.com. At the moment, the first prototype of the pair has been created.
The sneaker has a unique design: 4Steps consist of three main parts: the outsole, a thick sock-like fabric base, and an adjustable element. Shoes can be 3D printed from flexible and durable FilaFlex plastic, as well as elastic polyurethane.
Also, practicality and economy are more important: the model is aimed at children and adolescents from 6 to 14 years old, the period of the most intensive growth of the foot. The developers claim that 4Steps will allow parents to save money, since one pair of these sneakers will replace up to four regular ones, which would have to be purchased as the child’s foot size increases.
This is a very cool and important development because the 3D printing is made from recycled materials, which helps reduce the negative impact on the environment, and the adjustable design ensures a perfect fit for the ever-growing feet of the child. Moreover, designers offer various options for colors and materials, which will help you choose shoes based on the preferences of each individual little person.
