Russia's first UNIQLO street retail store
On July 17, the brand UNIQLO announced the opening of the first street retail store in Russia, namely in St. Petersburg. The store will occupy the 1st and 2nd floors of a detached building with its own entrances and storefronts. The brand's new retail space will be located in the historic building of St. Petersburg "Fashion House".
The store will feature men's, women's, children's clothing, as well as baby clothes in the LifeWear concept (clothing for life). The opening is scheduled for November 2019.
UNIQLO The Fashion House will be located on Leo Tolstoy Square, formed by the intersection of the two main transport arteries of the Petrograd side of Kamennoostrovsky and Bolshoy Avenues, as well as Leo Tolstoy Street.
The area of the new store will occupy 2 first floors, which is 1,528 sq. m. of the total area of the building, which is 10,022 sq. m. Three entrances to the store will work simultaneously: two from Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt and one from Leo Tolstoy Square. On the same sides there will be voluminous storefronts with a length of 77 meters, providing visibility of the store from several streets at once. The walking distance of the Petrogradskaya metro station, located right in the building of the Fashion House, will provide additional convenience for buyers.
Speaking about the opening of a new UNIQLO store, Fuminori Adachi, CEO of UNIQLO Russia, noted: "The opening of the first UNIQLO store in the street retail format is another step in our strategic development in Russia. The Fashion House is located in the center of St. Petersburg, and we are very proud that we will be able to become part of the renovation of a building that has such historical significance for the city. We will be glad to introduce new customers to the LifeWear concept and offer excellent Japanese service in a new format.
History Fashion Houses originates in 1968. The spectacular building with a large corner facade facing the square gathered the best specialists of light industry within its walls: talented fashion designers created collections, and famous cutters and tailors of Leningrad sewed clothes according to individual orders. The Fashion House was very popular among residents and guests of Leningrad, it was visited by statesmen, scientists and cultural workers. By the early 80s, the demand for services had increased so much that the Fashion House worked seven days a week, and before the holidays switched to a round-the-clock format.
Opening of the first street retail store UNIQLO in The Fashion House will be a logical continuation of the concept of the building, and will become a landmark event for the brand in the Russian market and will again gather residents and guests of the city in one of the main fashion centers of St. Petersburg of the past years.
The official opening of the store will take place in November.
