Rating of regions by the volume of shopping malls

According to experts, The Volga Federal District is one of the most developed districts in Russia in terms of the availability of format shopping centers and the representation of retailers. This is primarily due to the fact that the region is close to the Central One and has good transport accessibility from Moscow. By the total volume of commercial real estate supply and by the volume of new construction Volga Federal District ranks second after Central – 3.7 million square meters are located here. m of format retail facilities and another 427 thousand square meters are under construction.

It is the most provided with large-format retail spaces among cities.Volga Federal District Samara – 676 sq. m of retail space per thousand inhabitants. According to this indicator Samara is one of the leaders among all Russian cities with a population of more than 300 thousand people (only Krasnodar has a higher value of 738 sq. m. m per thousand inhabitants).

Other cities, the most affluent shopping centers, remainNizhny Novgorod (478 sq. m. m per thousand inhabitants) and Orenburg (470 sq. m.). These figures are twice as high as the Russian average of 204 sq. m. m of retail space per thousand inhabitants.

One of the least provided with retail space among the cities Volga Federal District Perm:131 sq.m. m per thousand inhabitants. This indicator is the lowest among all million-plus cities, there is a shortage of format retail facilities and, as a result, a limited number of federal and international trade operators. Not a single commercial facility built by federal developers has been presented on the market yet.

Construction activity is traditionally observed in cities with a population of more than 500 thousand inhabitants (Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, Perm, Izhevsk, Orenburg, Naberezhnye Chelny). The largest shopping center planned for commissioning in the next 2 years will be "Armada Capital (GLA 67 358 sq. m.) in Orenburg. Cities with a smaller population have security below the average Russian level, there is no construction activity here. This is due to the smaller market capacity and insufficient resources to absorb large objects.
