Online retail is preparing amendments to the Tax Code
Online store trading platforms are ready to turn to To the Russian government with a request to simplify tax procedures. According to RBC, this applies to those retailers that sell goods from abroadRussia. Difficulties of export prompted companies OZON, DHL, Farfetch Ebay and The Russian Export Center will develop a whole series of amendments to the Tax Code in order to increase trade turnover with foreign buyers.
Interest in Russian goods from online stores has grown dramatically, but due to the complexity of the tax refund procedure, many retailers of online trading companies are ready to ask The government to soften and simplify the procedure.
As Artem Sokolov, President of the Association of Internet Trade Companies, told RBC live, the process of confirming the legality of applying the zero rate is very complicated now. Constant trips to customs, to the tax service with a huge number of certificates leads to the fact that the retailer refuses this long tedious procedure. So Internet sites receive less funds, as a result they cannot lower prices for goods in online stores, and, as a result, the competitive ability of Russian goods decreases.
Appeals to the Ministry of Economic Development and tax authorities have so far remained inconclusive. At the same time, over the past year, online export sales have increased by Russia has doubled and this year has approached 750 million US dollars. In 2018, the number of parcels from online stores in Russia will be approximately 11 million. The main buyer is European countries, 40% of purchases are made by customers from CIS countries.
