Measuring in a new way

The size and type of the figure are the key parameters of the buyer in the fashion industry. But anthropometric indicators are variable, their change is influenced by many different factors. For the production of clothing, it is extremely important to have accurate data, and modern technologies such as 3D scanning of the body, which provides standardized measurements, help in this. We talked to Maxim Fedyukov, CEO of the company "Texel", who developed the unique 3D scanner Texel Portal.

– How exactly are population measurements carried out and what innovative technologies are used in this case?

– Measurements are made using the scanner Texel Portal. A person simply stands on the podium, 4 cameras fly around him in 30 seconds, and a full-height 3D model is created. It is based on unique algorithms created by the developers of the company «Texel». Portal performs video shooting along a spiral trajectory, building a 3D model from the received video streams and calculating all body parameters using a statistical model of a person.

 Texel Portal 3D Scanner

How can the latest technologies, including the Texel Portal 3D scanner, help the active development of the Russian garment industry and the production of fashionable and competitive domestic products?

People like clothes that fit well. No one wants to wear uncomfortable jeans or sweatshirts. Designing clothes based on statistical information collected during measurements of the population solves this problem and allows you to design and sew clothes that will fit perfectly on the figure and not cause discomfort when worn. This is the main idea and goal of our initiative to create a unified information and analytical system that domestic manufacturers can use.

Maxim, tell us about your company, its products and projects.

Our initial business idea was to create a 3D photo studio where people get not just classic photos from one angle, but photos of a new format in full, which can then also be printed on a 3D printer. This franchise has gained great popularity, our scanners are installed in 11 countries around the world, and, according to statistics, every 10 minutes with the help of our equipment, a full-grown 3D model of a person is created.

Later, we opened a marketing direction and began using the scanner in a new trend of the impression economy, launching amazing creative campaigns together with brands such as VISA, Shiseido, Mercedes-Benz, HP, MasterCard,SIBUR, Hard Rock Cafe, FOX, MARVEL.

Now we are actively working on the development of a Smart fitting room, as well as our fitness tracker, which allows you to regularly receive your own 3D model to monitor the progress of training, and gives tips on which exercises and training programs you need to use to achieve the desired result.
