Vivienne Westwood's wardrobe to be auctioned
Already this June, the wardrobe of British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood will be auctioned Christie's London. The current creative director of the fashion house Vivienne Westwood and Vivienne's widower said that most of the lots are personal belongings of the designer, once used by her on a regular basis, however, there are especially valuable items in the collections that resemble museum exhibits. In total, it is planned to sell at auction 500 items from 42 collections, painstakingly assembled by the founder of the punk style in high fashion over the past 40 years.

"Westwood's clothes show not only her skill as a designer, but also her life credo. Many items from her wardrobe are darned and repaired because she adhered to the principles of environmental friendliness and sustainable use. The earliest piece of clothing to be auctioned is a costume from her 1983 “Witches" collection. Other key lots include ball gowns worn at the award ceremony, lavish costumes and an elaborate floral dress that Westwood has called her favorite many times," fashion critic Alexander Fury commented on the upcoming auction.
