French investments in Russian flax
Governor of the Smolensk region Alexey Ostrovsky held a working meeting with the founder of the French holding Dehondt Technologies Developement Guillaume Deont, the official portal of the Administration of the Smolensk region reports. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of agriculture, as well as the possibility of implementing an investment project for the production of flax harvesting equipment in the Smolensk region.
The activity of the company Dehondt Technologies Developement is aimed at the modernization of the linen industry in Europe, the technical re-equipment of the industry and the improvement of the use of separate flax harvesting technology, which allows to increase the efficiency of the production of trusts (flax straw), as well as to increase the yield and quality of fiber during its processing. Dehondt Technologies Developement specializes primarily in the design development and serial production of equipment for cultivation, harvesting and primary processing of flax fiber.
The founder of the company Dehondt Technologies Developement Guillaume Deont stressed that the purpose of his visit was to create a joint production with Russian partners and assemble the flax harvesting equipment produced by the company, while introducing the technology of separate flax harvesting not only in the Smolensk region, but also all over the country. «We have been cooperating with Russian enterprises for 10 years now. Speaking about potential partners, I want to note that their experience in the assembly of agricultural machinery and willingness to invest with us in the development of the site is important to us. Therefore, we are interested in long-term contacts," the founder of the company said.
During the discussion, it was noted that the activities of Dehondt Technologies Developement are focused more on improving the methods of obtaining long flax fiber, which is one of the promising directions for the development of the linen complex of the Smolensk region. However, today the region is experiencing a shortage of specialized agricultural machinery and service centers that provide its maintenance and technological support. Mr. Deont confirmed his willingness to cooperate in this area.
Also during the meeting, representatives of the French company spoke about another promising area of the holding's work. We are talking about the manufacture of composite materials based on natural flax fibers. Guillaume Deont expressed his intention to establish partnership relations with JSC "Avangard", which is one of the leading enterprises in Russia for the production of large-sized products made of composite materials and plastics. Following the meeting, the company «Avangard» showed interest in working with biocomposites.
At the end of the discussion, the head of the region instructed the heads of relevant Departments to provide comprehensive assistance to the holding Dehondt Technologies Developement in establishing contacts with Smolensk agricultural machinery manufacturers.
