Detsky Mir announces operational results for the 1st quarter of 2017
Detsky Mir Group of Companies - Russia's largest retail operator of goods for children - announces operating results for the 1st quarter of 2017, ended March 31, 2017.
Key operational indicators of the 1st quarter of 2017:
- The Group's consolidated unaudited retail revenue increased by 26.8% to RUB 20.8 billion. compared to RUB 16.4 billion in the 1st quarter of 2016.
- In accordance with the methodology used in the operational and financial statements of public grocery retailers in Russia, comparable sales (alternative like-for-like) of the Detsky Mir chain of stores in Russia increased by 11.2%, including a comparable increase in the number of receipts amounted to 13.3% with a decrease in comparable the size of the average check by 1.9%. The number of the Group's stores amounted to 521 with a total retail area of 596 thousand sq. m. In the first quarter of 2017, 2 new stores of the Detsky Mir chain were opened.

"According to the results of the first quarter of 2017, the group of companies "Detsky Mir" confirms the status of the leader of the Russian market of children's goods. A significant increase in revenue was mainly due to an increase in the load of stores opened in 2016 and 2015, as well as an increase in comparable sales by 11.2% and a double-digit increase in the comparable number of customers.
The dominant position in the market allows the "Children's World" to conclude exclusive agreements with the largest manufacturers of children's goods. So, in the first quarter, a direct contract was signed with the Japanese company Epoch for the supply of a new promising brand Aquabeads, which has already demonstrated a high level of sales in Germany.
In 2017, the Children's World Group will continue its active development: by the end of the year, we plan to open at least 70 new super and hypermarkets.
