New public spaces will appear in Moscow -outdoor terraces on the roofs of district centers ADG group. The developer reconstructs 39 outdated cinemas and creates on their basis modern multifunctional leisure centers for the whole family. The renovated buildings will again become the centers of attraction of the districts, as it was in the Soviet era.
The district centers will open in 2019 and 2020 and will combine cultural, shopping and entertainment functions, taking into account the needs of residents of each district. The creators of the project plan to make the roofs of 25 out of 39 of them landscaped summer terraces for sports, family leisure and meetings with family and friends. Sun loungers and umbrellas, tables and chairs, kiosks with drinks and ready-made food, flowerbeds with seasonal flowers and shrubs, and, of course, protective fences and warning signs for the safety of visitors will be installed on the roofs.
A recent study by BCG consulting company on the development of a comfortable urban environment has shown the importance of creating new leisure venues in Moscow in order to increase the attractiveness of the urban environment and reach the level of megacities-leaders.
The results of the ADG group's own research suggest that Muscovites living between the TTK and the MKAD experience an acute shortage of places to relax outside the home in their areas. Thus, 46% of the surveyed Muscovites spend all their free time in the area where they live, but in order to relax with friends and family, 65% of the surveyed Muscovites have to go to the city center or, conversely, to the malls behind the MKAD. a leisure offer near the house.
Comments Alexey Belyakov, chief architect of ADG group:"The roofs of our district centers will become new urban public spaces, where seasonal exhibitions, fairs, master classes for different age categories will be held. Parks and squares are being actively landscaped in the city, but there are still few exploited roof terraces open for free visits by residents. On our roofs, residents will be able to play sports in the fresh air, meet friends or just enjoy the views of their neighborhood.
Exploited roofs will appear in 25 out of 39 district centers: among them the famous roof of "Homeland" (metro station "Semenovskaya"), which will be carefully restored, and new observation decks as in "Budapest"raquo; (metro «Altufevo») with a view of the Lianozovsky nursery or «Hangar» (metro «Varshavskaya») with a view of the pond and the square on Vishnevsky Square.
