Shane Oliver has been announced as the new guest designer of Jean Paul Gaultier

Recently, the French fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier revealed the name of a new guest designer, who became the co-founder of Hood By Air, Shane Oliver. The designer has 18 years of work within his own brand, and among his achievements is an honorable place in the list of the 25 greatest black fashion designers according to the 2013 edition of Complex.

The new Jean Paul Gaultier line, created by the American street-style designer, will feature more than 50 models inspired by "Gothic romance, extreme drama and light kitsch". According to Shane, the main source of inspiration for him was the work of Gaultier himself in the 1990s.

Oliver commented that the collection is designed to be worn "from couture to the bedroom", and is also inspired by "utilitarianism, femininity, strength and play." Oliver's use of these codes makes sense, since Gaultier's analysis of such ideas, especially femininity, has always been an integral part of the brand.

The launch of the collection is scheduled for May 6 (on the night of the Met Gala).
