The Pakistani company Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited is considering the possibility of creating a textile production in St. Petersburg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Bashir Ali Mohammed (Bashir Ali Mohammad) told reporters in Karachi.

According to him, investments in the project can amount to several million dollars, the purchase of equipment will take about six months, the creation of capacities will take about a year. Currently, the timing of the project has not been determined, since everything depends on how quickly it will be possible to find and arrange a plot for construction. B. Ali Mohammed, said that at first it is planned to establish a small production, and if the project is successful, expand it.

The head of the company recalled that Gul Ahmed is the main supplier of fabric for furniture IKEA, and also cooperates with a large number of European and American clothing brands, including Zara, Mark&Spencer, Tommy Hilfiger and others. "We plan to enter the Russian market by representing these companies," he said, specifying that an option with localization of the production of clothing of these brands in St. Petersburg is possible.

Also, Gul Ahmed is counting on cooperation with Russian, in particular St. Petersburg designers to create "unique, unlike other products", noted B. Ali Mohammed.

He added that if a positive decision is made to establish production in St. Petersburg, the company will focus, among other things, on youth fashion. "There are a lot of young people in Russia, and Europe is getting old," the head of the company noted.

Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd was founded in 1953. The company specializes in the production of a wide range of textiles, from cotton yarn to finished products. The company's production facilities are located in Karachi, representative offices in the USA, UK and UAE.
