MIDO confirms global leadership
MIDO, the world's leading eyewear exhibition, held from February 23 to February 25, 2019 in Milan, met its 49th season with a record number of professional participants from 159 countries. It was attended by 1,323 exhibitors, 110 of whom visited it for the first time. For three days, in seven completely sold-out pavilions Rho Fiera, with a total area of 52,000 sq. m, leading Italian and foreign players, manufacturers and designers, entrepreneurs, opticians, ophthalmologists and all participants in the global eyewear supply chain had the opportunity to present their products, find customers and partners, make purchases and establish business contacts.
In particular, Belarusian designer Dmitry Samal, who now lives in Paris, took part in the exhibition. At MIDO he presented a new design of his frames. In addition to pixel frames-bestsellers, the studio Samal Design presented collections of accessories and costume jewelry.

Numerous exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the results of the fair, confirming the fact that MIDO remains an event primarily dedicated to business, useful for expanding the network of contacts, doing business and concluding business agreements" commented Giovanni Vitaloni, President MIDO.
The importance of the exhibition was also confirmed by the visit of government officials. The event was attended by the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities Alberto Bonisoli, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dario Galli, Adviser to the Municipality of Milan on Digital Transformation and Civil Services Roberta Cocco and Advisor to the Lombard Region for Tourism, territorial marketing and fashion Lara Magoni.
The fact that MIDO is not only a business event, but also an increasingly popular event to showcase new trends, as well as a glamorous event, is confirmed by the visits of famous people from the world of sports and entertainment.
All the events and activities that took place at the MIDO exhibition were broadcast live on MIDOTV, which this year released 130 videos posted on Youtube, during 3 days of the exhibition the number of views reached 100,000. The enthusiasm of exhibitors, visitors, bloggers and VIPs was captured by the hashtag # MIDO2019, and the number of posts in Instagram and Facebook reached one million impressions.
"Finishing the 2019 season, we are already working on the next one, which marks the historic milestone of the 50th anniversary of MIDO. For 2020, we are planning a rich program of events in which all industries will take part: companies, opticians, buyers, media and companies to celebrate our anniversary with dignity," concludes Giovanni Vitaloni.
The 50th season will be held from February 29 to March 2, 2020.
