Marc Jacobs Fall24
Last season, Marc Jacobs turned the catwalk into a dollhouse by presenting miniature images. This year, on July 1, at the fall-Winter 2024 collection show at the New York Public Library, the designer continued this theme, but with a more rigorous and monumental approach.
The show, as always with Jacobs, was concise and lasted only six minutes. Five models in sculptural white dresses with exaggerated proportions appeared on the podium, as if hanging from their shoulders. The images of the mannequins were complemented by tight "doll-like" hairstyles and giant pastel eyelids. Despite the dubious practicality, these elements enhanced the surreal and playful atmosphere of the show.
Jacobs, known as one of New York's most experimental and daring designers, was inspired by the idea of authenticity and freedom from social norms, he created vivid images based on unusual silhouettes and playful details.
The collection was full of large peas, reminiscent of the corporate style of the characters — Minnie Mouse and Barbie, sculptural lace and pink and black color schemes. Voluminous cardigans, mini skirts and coats with precious stones created a cartoonish and at the same time rebellious image. Accessories were not inferior in brightness: huge bags resembling sweets completed the shocking images.
Jacobs, not afraid to experiment, both in design and in his style, offers clothes as a tool for self-expression and escapism in the modern world. In his collection, everyone can find inspiration to create their own unique and inimitable image, free from stereotypes.
