The crops of technical hemp, necessary for the manufacture of coarse fabrics, increased by 57%, compared to last year, and reached 4,500hectares. This was reported in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Coarse fabrics, ropes and ropes are produced from technical culture. In Russia , hemp is cultivated in five regions:Oryol, Penza and Novosibirsk regions, the Republic of Mordovia and the Altai Territory. According to experts, now almost all the cannabis Russia needs is imported and it is necessary to increase its own capacity tenfold.Due to the interest of the market in raw materials, subsidies to this industry will be increased.

Modern technologies used in the hemp industry (such as cultivation, harvesting and processing) make it possible to ensure high profitability of production.

Since 2017, a single subsidy for achieving targets in a number of areas of state support has been provided, including for flax and hemp growing.

«Taking into account the desire and interest of agricultural producers in the cultivation and processing of bast crops, the Ministry of Agriculture initiates and supports the creation of new innovative production facilities for deep processing of cannabis, the press service of the department reported. In order to comprehensively upgrade flax and hemp processing enterprises, it was decided to include, from 2018, regions in which this industry is traditional and economically significant, in the mechanism of preferential lending for modernization or construction of new enterprises (including crop cultivation)».

According to experts, cannabis crops have increased even more significantly than according to official data, and the gross harvest of the crop in 2017 will more than double. They explain the lack of raw materials with a special attitude to cannabis. For the full development of hemp breeding, it is necessary to adjust the conceptual apparatus in Russian legislation.

«We don't have different types of cannabis, and there are 26 of them. This creates problems for agriculture, – added expert Albert Popov.

President Soyuzlegprom, Andrey Razbrodin,believes that, despite the real need for hemp raw materials, the issue of increasing acreage should be treated carefully, since the use of cannabis as a drug is not excluded. «It is possible to distinguish technical cannabis from narcotic cannabis only at the stage of its flowering. In this regard, the issues of the development of hemp farming and processing of this raw material should be in the constant field of view of law enforcement and regulatory authorities, especially in the context of the abolition of the Federal Drug Control Service». At the same time, he noted that hemp fiber fabric has a number of undeniable advantages, in particular wear resistance, resistance to stretching, durability.
