Competencies must be competent
On November 29 at the meeting of the expert group "Light industry of the EAEU. Expanding the horizons of cooperation", held within the framework of V All-Russian Forum of Light Industry in Ivanovo, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Harutyunyan stated that the light industry needs accelerated innovative development, substantial renewal of fixed assets and increasing labor productivity. In this regard, the Eurasian Commission is discussing the prospects of creating Competence Centers in the light industry of the EAEU countries. According to Mr. Harutyunyan, Ivanovo can become a center of attraction for cooperative cooperation in the EAEU.
Light industry occupies an important place in the economy of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. There are more than 32 thousand enterprises operating in the industry, while about 70% of them are city-forming. The number of employees in the industry as a whole in the Union is more than 400 thousand people, of which 80% – women. All these indicators speak about the social significance of light industry.
During the discussion, experts discussed possible practical steps to implement mechanisms to support manufacturers, including when supplying products to third-country markets, and prospects for cooperation with Uzbek enterprises aimed at developing practical cooperation, achieving concrete results taking into account mutual interests.
