Results of the XXV Milano Unica season

If compared with September 2016, the exhibition was visited by twice as many professionals. Here is how Ercole Botto Poala, President of Milano Unica commented on these results: "We were confident in the correctness of our decision to change the timing of the exhibition. The middle of July is most often not so busy with other exhibitions, both among suppliers and among manufacturers and buyers. As a result, we have more participants, and the number of visitors has doubled. This result is important both for the development of the entire supply chain of products Made in Italy, and for our partners from strategically important international markets.

The exhibition, held in Milan from July 11 to July 13, was attended by more than 6,000 exhibitors who demonstrated the high level of collections of the fall –winter 2018/19 season. In addition to manufacturers from Italy, companies from other countries also presented their products. The positive dynamics was shown by the exhibitors from the Netherlands, increasing the delegation by 46%, from Portugal by 42%, from Germany by 32%, from Russia by 32%, from Spain by 28%, from the USA by 26%, from the UK – by 20%, from France – by 15% and from Turkey – by 11%. The representation of enterprises and factories from the Far Eastern countries, especially from China, has decreased somewhat, which may have been caused by the October Milano Unica exhibition in Shanghai, where representatives of these companies have already confirmed their presence.

Traditionally, the Milano Unica exhibition was supported by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the ICE Agency, which organized the arrival of 456 exhibitors, 20% more than last year, and 145 enterprises that placed expositions in a special section called the Korean Observatory.

The exhibition was supported by all key industry players, starting with the Italian Fashion Chamber and Sistema Moda Italia. The opening ceremony was attended by: Ercole Botto Poala, President of Milano Unica, Ivan Scalfarotto, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Italy, Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan, Michele Scannavini, President of ICE Agency, and Claudio Marenzi, President of SMI.

"We took advantage of the opportunity and were rewarded. The day before the opening of the exhibition, I would consider a 10% decrease in attendance a success, but the result exceeded all our expectations. I want to thank everyone who contributed to achieving success. We'll do it again next year on July 10th and 12th.

The days of the exhibition brought with them a lot of business meetings and interesting events, as well as acquaintance with traditional Italian weaving technologies, the manufacture of silk threads and innovative buttons. In addition, during the exhibition, it was possible to visit a unique area where the latest trends in the global textile industry were presented.

«This season we remain loyal supporters of Milano Unica exhibitions of Italian textiles and accessories. In addition to presenting products, it carries an important message, demonstrating the uniqueness of the Italian traditions of quality goods and creativity under the Made in Italy sign. Everyone really enjoyed the exciting event «ON Tour», dedicated to the culture and traditions of the production of the Campania region. In the following seasons we will show the peculiarities of other regions of Italy, organizing special programs for this.

Massimo Moziello, CEO of Milano Unica

The XXV season has shown good results, and all industry professionals will look forward to the next season of Milano Unica, which will be held from February 6 to 9, 2018 at the Milano Ferre Rho Exhibition Center.
