IKEA launches a new urban format

IKEA is launching a new urban format on the Russian market for the first time. The company JLL  acted as a consultant on the selection and rental of the site. The store has an area of over 300 sq. m. m will be located in the largest shopping and entertainment center in Russia «Aviapark».

The urban format of the store involves the demonstration of such key products IKEA as kitchens and storage systems. As a location for the first design studio, the JLL team proposed "Aviapark", which is the largest shopping center in Europe and attracts a diverse audience, which will quickly introduce a new format to the market.

Residential areas and complexes of premium and business class are located in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center. An important factor is the presence in the coverage area, which totals more than 5 million people, of residential projects at the final ("repair") stages of construction. The new design studio IKEA will harmoniously complement the cluster of stores with household goods: AUCHAN, OBI, Hoff, – which will attract new visitors to the shopping center. And the recently opened metro station "CSKA" has also improved the transport accessibility of the "Air Fleet".

Comments Nadezhda Martynova, Head of the Retail Services Department of the Retail real estate Department of JLL: "The retail market is now actively changing, adapting to the needs of consumers. One of the trends is the launch of new formats along with the usual large-scale stores. IKEA is a pioneer who has been mastering urban formats in foreign markets for several years, and we are glad to become part of this project in Russia. To launch a new concept, we proposed a shopping facility that, thanks to an expanded pool of tenants and a successful location near the city center, attracts a large consumer audience. We are sure that the win-win principle will work in this transaction: the appearance of such an international brand as IKEA will have a positive impact on the traffic of the shopping center. In turn, by opening a studio in the Airpark, the retailer will make the process of buying goods more comfortable for residents of the center and nearby areas.
