Commercial 5G networks from Huawei
On February 25, at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, Huawei presented the world's first commercial client terminal 5G CPE, supporting the globally recognized standard 5G, developed by the 3GPP consortium. This is the world's first commercial terminal supporting the 5G standard from 3GPP. The theoretical maximum download speed reaches 2.3 Gbit/sec. The chipset supports 5G communication in all frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz and millimeter waves, which allows you to create solutions based on it for various use cases. The commercial launch of the Balong 5G01 chipset makes Huawei the first company to offer a comprehensive 5G solution covering network equipment, client devices and chipsets.
5G communication technologies are bringing the era of the intellectual world closer, when people, cars, homes and devices will be connected into a single system that opens up new opportunities for work, entertainment and communication. Since 2009, Huawei has invested more than $600 million in research and development related to 5G technologies. This allowed us to take a leading position in the areas of network architecture, the use of frequency bands, calibration in the field and other related areas. Our goal is to create a ready-to-use 5G ecosystem covering the automotive industry and smart homes, virtual and augmented reality and holographic video. We are sure that this will significantly increase the comfort of everyday life of users around the world, opening up new opportunities for them.Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group
Mobile 5G Networks Set a new Bar for wireless communication: download speed up to 20 Gbit/ s, connection of up to 1 million subscriber devices per 1 square kilometer. Such terminals are able to provide reliable communication with a growing number of connected devices, expanding the capabilities and accessibility of the Internet of Things.
Huawei's strategy for the development of 5G communication technologies includes the creation of smartphones, mobile Wi-Fi access points, industrial modules and other devices that facilitate the connection of mobile devices, homes, cars and other objects to high-speed networks. To this end,Huawei cooperates with more than thirty telecommunications service providers, including Vodafone, Softbank, T-Mobile, BT, Telefonica, China Mobile and China Telecom.
In 2017, together with partners Huawei began testing commercial 5G networks, developed technologies and completed compatibility testing. The start of the first stage of the deployment of commercial 5G networks is scheduled for 2018.
