KARL LAGERFELD Autumn-Winter 2021 Men's Collection
Men's collection KARL LAGERFELD autumn-winter 2021 is dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld's passion for cinema and some of his favorite films of the 1920s and 30s. The aesthetics of Art Deco design are combined with modern elements and handmade details. The image combines elements of the Art Nouveau style with KARL's signature rock chic and monogrammed prints, as the past, present and future converge in a new era of men's clothing.
Inspired by the movie "Grand Hotel", the first delivery displays elements of 1930s costume design. It is dramatic, artistic and filled with bright red and pink accents. A ribbed sweater with angular color blocks and a dark red suit create the basis for dramatic black and white Art Deco prints. The combination of shiny and matte materials - plush sweaters and vinyl trousers - plays a key role, and black faux fur, cream leather and sheepskin determine the direction of outerwear.
The season is revealed by broadcasting a silent horror film of the 1920s "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". It is known that Karl Lagerfeld loved this film, as well as the use of graphic techniques in it - from straight edges to inclined and curved lines. This is expressed in the collection with bright contour details, sharp color contrasts and graphic color-blocking technique in shades of yellow, green and black. The key images are light, voluminous nylon shirts and jersey sweaters. The memorable model is a 3-in-1 modular coat with a removable jacket in case the weather turns cool.
As the festive season approaches, Babylon Berlin (Babylon Berlin), which takes place in Berlin in the 1920s, inspires the creation of festive evening images in black and white, combined with silver and gold prints and an emphasis on lilac shades. A spectacular evening look is a tuxedo with a contrasting black and white double lapel. During the day - a leather jacket with metal details, as well as lilac and black art deco prints on T-shirts and sweaters
