The third European Samsonite assembly plant has opened
To strengthen the production capacity, Samsonite has opened a new factory in Hungary. This is the second Hungarian factory of the company and the third in Europe. The brand also has a production facility in the Belgian city of Oudenaarde.
«At our new assembly plant in Sexard (Szekszárd) we have integrated modern technologies exactly as we do in all our products. The process is completely controlled by the latest software, which gives us the opportunity, for example, to adjust heating, cooling and lighting power at absolutely any moment. Solar panels generate hot water. Since the safety of all 750 employees of the company is a priority for us, an alarm is triggered in case of any malfunction in the boiler room, says the plant director,Joseph Pinczel (József Pinczel).
President of Samsonite in Europe,Arne Borrey (Arne Borrey), personally opened the plant in September 2017. The new space is located near the first Hungarian factory Samsonite. Each of the plants occupies approximately 20,000 square meters. Approximately 15 diverse luggage collections for the European market will be produced on an impressive plot with a total area of 40,000 square meters.
The interim results of 2017 show an increase in the net sales of the brand Samsonite by 7%. In 2017, we will produce 1.2 million units of products and 1.4 million in 2018. Thus, the European production capacity will increase by almost 17% only thanks to the opening of a second assembly plant in Hungary. At the new factory we will produce such polycarbonate models as Neopulse, Lite-Cube, Cosmolite and Lite-Box, – shared Joseph Pinzel.
By opening a new factory, Samsonite seeks to emphasize the importance of the label "Made in Europe". According to the rating of countries by product quality Made-In-Country Index (MICI), the trademark "Made in Europe" ranks third after products labeled "Made in Germany" and "Made in Switzerland";. The main features that attract people and inspire confidence in this brand are not only "quality" and "reliability", but also "short transportation length" and "careful attitude to the environment". That is why Samsonite decided to strengthen its production facilities in the European Union.
