Sarah Burton has become the new creative director of Givenchy
Sarah Burton has been appointed as Givenchy's creative director. Prior to that, the designer worked for 26 years at the Alexander McQueen fashion house, where she created collections under the guidance of Lee McQueen himself.
Sarah Burton is an English fashion designer, born in Manchester and educated in fashion design at Central Saint Martins. She began her career at Alexander McQueen as an intern, quickly moving up the career ladder and becoming the leading designer of the women's line. After Alexander McQueen's death in 2010, Sarah was appointed creative director of the brand and successfully committed herself to maintaining a unique and eccentric approach, refining and continuing his legacy.
Matthew Williams held the post of creative director of Givenchy for three years before Sarah Burton. The American designer plans to focus on developing his own brand 1017 Alyx 9SM.
Sarah Burton will head both the women's and men's directions of the French brand. The new creative director of Givenchy will show his first collection at the next Paris Fashion Week in March 2025.
“My dream is to write the next chapter in the history of this iconic house and bring my own vision, sensitivity and beliefs to Givenchy,” Sarah said in one of her interviews.
