From conveyor to handicraft

On November 16 and 17, 2017, the second industrial conference "Efficient Production 4.0" was held in the technopark "Skolkovo". In the plenary session "Are we ready for the digital revolution?" the Deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia took part, Vasily Osmakov, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reports.

More than 500 participants gathered at the two-day business program of the conference. There were representatives of government authorities, development institutions, large industrial corporations, enterprises of various sectors of the economy and IT business. The most active at the conference were representatives of integrator companies that have already introduced new digital technologies into production, as well as suppliers of modern equipment and automation systems.

The main topic of the plenary session "Are we ready for the digital revolution?" became the issues of production efficiency and industrial business readiness for the digital revolution. Vasily Osmakov spoke about the Ministry's view of this problem.

"From the point of view of the state, efficient production is not foreign achievements of scientific and technological progress purchased and installed at the factory. Technological independence will never be ensured by direct imitation and copying. Efficiency arises when key competencies and value-added centers become national, that is, they belong to Russian enterprises or are located on the territory of the country.

Vasily Osmakov

The most competitive companies today are those that are export-oriented and introduce modern technologies of flexible production. Moreover, Russia's prospects in this new, customized industry look, according to the Deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, even preferable against the background of other countries – manufacturers of traditional mechanical engineering.
