A new collection from Cos in the Japanese coloring technique
Cos has released a new summer capsule created in the Japanese shibori staining technique (translated as "binding staining"). To implement the idea, the brand team specially invited one of the last traditional practitioners, known for his craft knowledge.

Shibori (shibori) is a very ancient Japanese technique for creating folds, draperies and painting fabrics, it is believed that it was first used back in the VIII century AD. In total, there are more than a hundred types of shibori, but there is an opinion that in a lifetime a person can master only three of them.
"The pandemic and the rise of cheap products after years of deflation in the Japanese economy have forced many craftsmen out of business, leaving few successors and jeopardizing the Shibori tradition. I feel it is my mission to prevent the art of shibori, which has been passed from person to person for over a thousand years, from ending with my generation," the invited craftsman shared in an interview with WWD.

For the new campaign, the master chose two patterns, the first of which was once used to decorate Buddhist statues, and the second was designed specifically for Cos. The launch of the 10-piece collection is scheduled for June 5th.
