#UNPROVOKED

On April 25, the Fashion and Design Center of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art opens an exhibition «#UNPROVOKED».

Project «#It's not just an exhibition." – it's not just an exhibition. This is a story about the history, transformation and variations of the military style. The exhibition features more than a hundred works by Russian designers, items of Red Army uniforms from museum and private collections, works of decorative and applied art, in which military motifs are used.

Stylized elements of military uniforms have long been firmly established in our wardrobe, and sometimes we don't even think about their true origin. At the same time, double-breasted fastener, buckled belts, double seams, sleeve fasteners, patch pockets, breeches, vests, hats with a visor, waterproof fabrics and many other elements came to everyday clothes from military uniforms.

Daria Makarova,project curator

The exhibition presents objects of decorative and applied art of the XX century, in which army paraphernalia and symbols are used. For example, cigarette case «Dancing in the village, tu-step» (V.M. Golitsyn, 1924), casket «Red Army vacationer – the best guest in the village » (V.M. Golitsyn, 1920s), sugar bowl with lid "Red Army" (1930s) from the collection of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, reconstruction of a tracksuit Vera Mukhina based on the model of N.P. Lamanova from the State Museum of V.V. Mayakovsky (E.K. Novokreschenova, 1991), toy "Red Army Soldier" (1930s) from the Art and Pedagogical Museum of Toys named after N.D. Bartram and other items.

Along with the museum exhibits at the exhibition, you can see clothing items and accessories from the collections of the brands Ulyana Sergeenko, A la Russe, Gourji, Laroom, Masterpeace, &"Tin", occupying different segments of the fashion industry. The participants of the exhibition will demonstrate a variety of interpretations of military style and military symbols. Some are attracted by military chic, others by convenience and functionality.

The exposition does not pretend to chronological presentation of the history of uniforms, but allows the visitor to see the variety of reflections of the military theme in fashion and design of the XX-XXI centuries. This exhibition is a bright and eclectic mix of history and modernity. In the exhibition space there is a podium-a star, a podium in the form of a sign "pacific" and even mannequins are art objects from the ARCHPOLE brand.
