Mary Katrantzou - Bulgari's first creative director

On April 2, it became known about the appointment of the first and so far only creative director for accessories and leather goods at Bulgari. This honorary position was taken by Mary Katrantzou, a graduate of Central Saint Martins and founder of the eponymous brand Mary Katrantzou.

The collaboration between Katrantzou and Bulgari began back in 2019, when the jewelry house provided its vintage pieces for the designer’s couture show, held at the Temple of Poseidon in Athens. Later, in 2021, their first collaboration took place as part of the Serpenti through the eyes of project, where Mary reimagined the iconic collection of Serpanti Forever bags. The cooperation turned out to be so fruitful that the second capsule did not take long to arrive and was released in 2023. The success of both collaborations, as well as the productive collaboration on the Bvlgari Omnia fragrance, the bottle design of which was designed by Katrantzou, became the basis for the appointment of the designer.

On her page on a social network banned in Russia, Mary expressed gratitude to the jewelry house for its trust and emphasized that Bulgari’s rich cultural heritage played an integral role in her development as a designer. Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, in turn, noted:

“Mary shares with Bulgari not only her Greek origins, but above all a commitment to excellence in the choice of materials and their transformation, with particular emphasis on craftsmanship, as well as a passionate love for colors. We are confident that what we are embarking on, thanks to her vision, will be a path full of successes.”
