Chris Van Asch has been appointed Creative Director of Berluti

Belgian designer Chris Van Assche (Kris Van Assche) has been appointed creative director of the oldest French luxury brand Berluti. He will be responsible for all lines of the brand, including clothing, shoes, leather accessories.

Prior to that, the post of chief designer of the fashion house Berluti was held by Haider Ackermann, whose resignation was announced at the end of March by the owner of Berluti.

«I am pleased to invite Chris Van Asch to Berluti, – said the executive director of Berluti Antoine Arnault. – We have known each other for several years, and I have always admired his work at Dior Homme. I'm looking forward to working with him.

In turn Van Asch shared his impressions about the appointment: I have always wanted to build bridges between the craftsmanship, the heritage of the fashion house and my own modern vision. Antoine Arnault told me about his intentions for the development of Berluti, and it is with great pleasure that I accept this challenge, which corresponds to my desires and my vision. I would also like to thank Bernard Arnault for his confidence in me.

Graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp Chris Van Asch, for 11 years worked as the creative director of the men's line Dior. Last month, the designer left Dior Homme, but he assumed that he would continue working at LVMH.

Experts highlighted the main achievements of the designer over 11 years of work at Dior Homme. Van Asch made the classic pantsuit modern and relevant; managed to combine luxury and street fashion within the DNA of the brand; began to speak the same language with the modern generation and attracted the attention of a younger audience; shot for advertising campaigns Dior Nomme cult and unexpected heroes.

It is assumed that the assignment is Chris Van Asch for the position of chief designer of the oldest and very traditional brand founded in 1895 is a response to the increasing influence of street style in men's fashion.

My first collection Van Asch will present during Paris Fashion Week in January 2019.
