Fragile dresses for strong women
The second Eurasian Women's Forum gathered participants from dozens of countries in St. Petersburg. Within the framework of the Forum, not only business meetings, plenary sessions and expert discussions were held, but also unique expositions and displays, in particular, especially for the guests of the Forum Imperial Porcelain Factory together with the designer Tatiana Chapurgina presented a collection of porcelain dresses – interspersed with porcelain mosaics were used in the fabric of the models.
18 years ago, when Tatiana Chapurgina created her first collection inspired by porcelain, her creations were considered more like museum samples and some of them are even presented in the Hermitage as part of a permanent exhibition, then this time dresses adapted to modern fashion trends were demonstrated.
"Porcelain looks very much like a woman. Seemingly fragile, it passes through fire, water and copper pipes, and thanks to this it becomes very strong. So are modern women – fragile, but at the same time firm».
Tatiana Chapurgina
The products are made to order and will hardly ever go into mass production, but the duo of the designer and the Imperial Porcelain Factory is not going to stop there. The plans include the creation of accessories with the application of porcelain.
Comments Tatiana Tylevich, General Director of JSC "Imperial Porcelain Factory": "We recently released a collection of umbrellas made based on Gothic plates. In the near future there will be umbrellas with porcelain inserts, as well as handbags, pendants, which can be a wonderful gift for any girl. I can note that the fashion repeats itself - those sets that were made under Catherine II and Paul I are in demand again these days.
The display of porcelain dresses within the framework of the forum, the provision of products for business breakfasts, as well as participation in exhibitions are part of the joint work of the IFZ and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation on the revival of folk arts and crafts of Russia. Thanks to active collaboration, interest in native Russian art is really growing all over the world.
