MUSIC KIOSK
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade offered to return to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other major cities kiosks, tents and stalls, in The State Duma introduced a bill on non-stationary and mobile commerce.
According to the players, in the case of the revival of small-format street retail in Moscow and St. Petersburg will continue the transformation. The program launched by the end of 2018The Government of Moscow «My district» on the improvement of peripheral areas (sleeping areas remote from the center of the capital), as well as the development of transport infrastructure (metro, MCC, Moscow diameters) and, as a result, the improvement of the territories adjacent to the stations, will also be a significant factor in the growth of the new supply of street retail space, Knight Frank predicts.
In addition, in the short term, it is expected to increase the supply of street retail premises in Bogoyavlensky Lane, through which pedestrian flows pass to the park «Zaryadye» and GUM. Buildings facing this trade corridor, but requiring reconstruction, have the potential to create a full-fledged trade infrastructure. The projected volume of the new offer in Bogoyavlensky Lane can be of the order of 3,5 thousand.m2, some of which can be allocated for street retail. The implemented plan of the city authorities to create a comfortable urban environment for pedestrians and minimize car traffic in the updated locations of the city is likely to have an impact on the further growth of pedestrian flows. The expected increase in traffic on the updated streets is up to 10% per year. The share of catering operators in the street retail format will increase from 40.8% to 5.7%, and fashion operators will continue to reduce their presence.
The free areas of highways will also gradually be reduced – they will be occupied by operators focused on consumers who live nearby: food, banks and services.
