Digest of shows of Fashion Week in St. Petersburg 2024
On April 7, the closing ceremony of St. Petersburg Fashion Week took place. Over the course of 4 days, guests had the opportunity to enjoy lectures from stylists, fashion influencers, founders of clothing brands and authors of fashion telegram channels, pose in front of photographers’ lenses during a street style shoot in front of the Alexandria Theater and, of course, see with their own eyes the shows of emerging and established domestic designers.
This season, 8 shows were held as part of SPBFW, each of which became a unique ode to modern fashion. Russian designers presented their interpretation of the trends set by their foreign colleagues, and also demonstrated a unique vision of the current fashion industry. Having carefully watched all the shows, we have highlighted the most interesting for you and are now ready to share a digest of the collections presented by Russian designers at Fashion Week in St. Petersburg.
School DH
The display of student course projects and collections of graduates of the professional course “Fashion Design” from the modern DH design school certainly did not leave any of the spectators indifferent. Since the works of young designers were presented in one show, the presentation turned out to be incredibly colorful. Here, printed coats referencing the fashion of the 60s, unusual embroidery on dresses, elven motifs, and an abundance of chains complementing leather items - everything merges together. The models, like bright flashes, flashed before the eyes of the audience, not allowing them to be distracted for a second.

The enormous scope of styling and successful work with non-standard materials proved the professionalism and courage of novice designers. I especially want to mention the red ruffled dress with a cape train, the look with a foil candy jacket, a carpet bag and variations of elegant translucent lace items combined with corsets.

22 Nuance
For 5 years now, the 22 Nuance brand has been creating exquisite accessories and elegant clothes to match ladies from the very heart of the northern capital. At the beginning of its journey, the brand specialized exclusively in accent accessories, cuffs, and collars. Now this is a full-fledged designer collection of clothing and accessories, suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions. Despite the expansion of the range, the brand has retained the original concept. The DNA of 22 Nuance is based on details: they act as a designer, rearranging the cubes, which changes the mood of the image.

As part of St. Petersburg Fashion Week, the brand presented a new collection, developed and brought to life by designer Yulia Lyubomirova. The Gothic atmosphere of the show, the detail of the images and the combination of textures aroused genuine delight among the audience. I would like to pay special attention to the tulle cape, the ends of which converge into an elegant bow, the incredibly beautiful collar framed with trendy fringe, as well as the corset jacket with open shoulders in combination with a collar and slightly voluminous sleeves.

Ante Kovac
Continuing the conversation about accent details, we suggest stopping at the Ante Kovac show. This Russian brand specializes in creating handmade conceptual bags and accessories. The ideology of Ante Kovac's style is based on the originality of modern forms combined with unique artistic sophistication.

At St. Petersburg Fashion Week, the Ante Kovac team presented not just accessories, but real art objects. Expertly experimenting with design, shape and texture, the brand created a sensation among guests. It was difficult for us to single out just one item, since each product certainly deserves attention, but we especially remember the tablet bag, decorated in an antique style, a travel bag with a red leather strap, and bags in the shape of hearts.

Ffancy Choice
Ffancy choice is a seasonal capsule show of young brands that won a competition from Fancy magazine, one of the main media partners of SPBFW. This season, the brands Butirskiy, Vittoria Pavlova and Feahrom had the honor of presenting their collections. The budding designers have proven that they are more than worthy of the chance given to them.
The show was opened by the Vittoria Pavlova brand, whose designer demonstrated her new capsule “Mugonghwa”. The name of the collection comes from the Korean 무궁화 - "hibiscus". The origins of this word come from the Chinese language, where it means an unfading flower, immortelle, flower of eternity. This symbol of subtle beauty and the resilience of people’s spirit to any difficulties inspired Victoria to create the collection. The prints, created using the Kandinsky neural network, are made in the style of classical oriental painting, and modern forms of clothing are elegantly intertwined with elements of the traditional Korean costume "Hanbok" (한복). This combination reflects the simultaneity of past, present and future, which is a representation of our modernity.

Next, designer Ivan Butyrsky showed his work “Daffodils” to the audience.
“I carried the idea in my head for a long time, along with the images of the collection. Every detail in it is thought out, through the contrast between colors, textures and methods of creating clothes, the ambiguity of such a phenomenon as narcissism is shown. Even the utilitarian purpose of things, combined with execution, serves this idea,” the designer commented on his collection.

And the show ended with a new capsule from the St. Petersburg brand of the same name, Feahrom. During its demonstration, viewers were briefly immersed in the fantastic world of the planet with its vibrant landscapes, fluid forms and bizarre underwater world. The collection mainly consists of insulated products for the demi-season and winter, but there are also looks for warm weather - the climate on the planet Feahrom is unpredictable!

Showcase “New Name”
In the new season, Nelly Kruk and Artyom Kalyakin received a grant to participate in SPBFW from the St. Petersburg Fashion Syndicate; they presented their collections in the Showcase “New Name”.
Nelly Kruk is a niche, emotional story about a person’s individuality. A feature of the show was the intriguing and eye-catching details in each image. The products themselves were made from high-quality Italian, French and German fabrics. The knitted line is knitted from natural Italian yarn. In addition to clothing, the brand has hats, bags, belts and jewelry in its line. Some of the products were created in collaboration with artists and jewelers.

The main idea of Artem Kalyakin’s collection “Tightness” is the materialization of the emotional state of a person who always feels internal discomfort, stiffness and tension. The images themselves were created using various cutting techniques, variations of textiles and textures. The line features a dark color scheme, gray and black shades, turning into dark burgundy. The palette chosen by the young designer matches the monotony of the collection.

Chapurin
At the final show of the third day of SPBFW 2024, the already well-known brand Shapurin presented its new line. In the “The line” collection, designer Igor Chapurin reflects on the fundamentals of tailoring - clear cut lines that transform solid fabric into perfectly fitting products. And Chapurin is helped in this by one of his favorite techniques - a combination of graphic, sharp silhouettes and free forms. It’s interesting that some of the items were created in the “color block” aesthetic: a masterful play with color and asymmetry.

The collection “The line” by Chapurin featured suits, jackets, straight trousers and feminine dresses with sequins, flowing silk blouses and lightweight coats reminiscent of loose capes. The designer himself described his new creation as follows:
“I tried to create a laconic wardrobe for a modern woman who is used to being herself, has a sense of fashion, but does not strive to make a “statement” with every appearance.”
Fabric Fancy by Sergey Khromchencov
And traditionally, Fashion Week in St. Petersburg ended with the show of the new collection of the permanent resident of SPBFW Fabric Fancy by Sergey Khromchencov. Being a master of shocking, Sergei turned the show into a real show. First, the audience was invited to watch a short documentary about the creation of the collection, and then models came out who did not walk between the rows, as is usually customary, but wandered around the labyrinthine stage.

“How often in life we see only the good and bright and do not want to look at the obvious dark shades, what is in the shadow of bright intentions. In this collection, I reveal the theme of life’s confusion, in which we go through different images of ourselves and our behavior,” the designer commented on the concept of the line.

All products from the “Labyrinth” collection were made exclusively in black and white colors, directly reflecting the philosophy of the line. The designer chose cotton, silk, genuine leather and complex synthetic materials as materials. The collection itself turned out to be quite brutal, although not without a pinch of elegance. I especially remember the dress, trimmed with pieces of fabric in the shape of feathers, and the corset dress with a floor-length skirt with a zipper in the front.
