Crocs closes factories

The American company Crocs, which produces the famous comfortable, but at the same time "ugly" polymer clogs and other rubber shoes, announced the closure of the last factories belonging to it.

Prior to that, in the second quarter of this year, the production of shoes in Mexico was stopped, and then in Italy, according to the official message of Crocs. Also, the financial director of the company is resigning.

Despite the fact that Crocs had high-profile collaborations with Balenciaga and Christopher Kane, the company's sales have been declining recently. As reported by CBS News, it was forced to reduce the number of its branded stores: 28 have already been closed, and by the end of the year 132 more of the more than 400 brand outlets will stop working. This led to the fact that the company focused mainly on online sales.

The closure of factories does not mean the disappearance of the brand at all. Representatives of Crocs announced revenue growth of 4.7% in the second quarter of 2017. And the company's share price has increased by 43% since the beginning of 2018. But this was not enough to continue to maintain its own production facilities. Therefore, the business will be optimized and production will be transferred to the contractors' factories.
