"Alexandrovskaya Sloboda" is coming 100 years
In 2019, the State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve "Alexandrovskaya Sloboda" turns 100 years old. The museum opens preparations for this date with a series of exhibitions «Masterpieces of the museum collection». The first of the exhibition projects was «Baranovsky brand – always on trend!»
The collection of printed fabrics of the XIX-XX centuries occupies a special place in the funds of the museum-reserve. Bright, stylish and very fashionable chintz and shawls, made in the technique of etching on a brightly colored background, are a real symbol of Russian weaving. They were produced in the Alexandrovsky district at the manufactories of merchants Baranov, so they became known as "baranovsky calico". In "Alexandrovskaya Sloboda" there is a unique collection of more than 2,000 items.
In addition to authentic chintz and shawls produced at the manufactories of Baranov , the exhibition tells about the development of the legendary brand in the XX and XXI centuries.
The partners of the project were a Moscow designer, a ceramic artist Vadim Stashkevich and the Kolchugin creative association "Silk collection". Especially for the exhibition, they created exclusive art objects that will be presented at the exhibition for the first time.
