Shaping in constructive modeling

Modern mass fashion design follows the path of maximum standardization, simplification and cheapening, working mainly with color based on basic designs. At the same time, there are many design variations based on formative modeling.

Let's consider the possibilities of constructive modeling using the example of the author's dress "Cat", developed by designer Kristina Pavlova.

Modeling process:

  1. We transfer the chest tuck of the shelf to the neck area and create a space for assembly in the chest area. The folds will become an imitation of the "whiskers" of a cat.
  2. We combine the chest and waist tucks with straight lines, and then create additional structural cuts in the form of semicircles, thereby forming the "muzzle" of the cat.
  3. We draw the paws of the cat on the shelf, combining them with waist tucks.
  4. We create a new relief on the back of the structure, imitating the body of the cat with its oval part, and the continuation of the paws with its lateral ones.
  5. We additionally complete the belt and the tail of the cat, repeating the relief of the lower part of the back, as well as the eye of the cat.

  1. For ease of use, as well as in order to create a certain style, we supply the dress with a central metal zipper, as well as two small metal ones in the shoulder area between the front and back parts of the cat's ears. In order for the "ears" to have 2 positions (lying and standing) we supply them with an internal button.
  2. Add an additional vertical zipper to the incision area at chest level. Accordingly, the dress can be worn with both a closed zipper and an open one.

With the help of constructive modeling, a completely new and unique clothing model was created.

By changing the volume of structural elements (tail, ears and paws) with the help of various seals, you can also change the purpose of the product: from everyday to festive and carnival. These are also additional formative design possibilities.

Working with formative modeling cannot and should not be limited to a cat, similarly, you can create other dresses in the form of other animals (fox, bear, wolf, dog, dragon from Game of Thrones, etc.).

Thus, with the help of constructive modeling tools, we can go very far from standard design solutions.

Modern designers can create completely new forms thanks to the introduction of new design lines.
