Sewing potential of the Ivanovo region

On February 1, a meeting of fashion industry leaders took place in Moscow at a multifunctional platform called Digital Business Space. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Ivanovo Regional Duma Committee on Economic Development Roman Efremov.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the potential of the fashion industry and its impact on other industries and areas of Moscow's life - the urban environment, tourism, sports and the economy. It was about supporting aspiring designers, scaling existing fashion projects, providing the fashion industry with the necessary personnel, promoting the brand Made in Moscow.

Roman Efremov told colleagues about the state of light industry in the Ivanovo region. According to him, today the region has practically retrained from spinning and weaving to sewing production, which employs several tens of thousands of people. In addition, according to him, Ivanovo has become a major logistics center that sells fabrics from many countries of the world on its territory. According to Roman Efremov, the competence of the "Textile Hub of Russia" can be developed by attracting representative offices of firms focused on tailoring and selling outerwear to the region. He offered his Moscow colleagues cooperation in the implementation of the "fashion cluster" project.

"This task is difficult, since the manufacture of small batches requires a wide range of equipment, possession of a variety of technologies, work with non-traditional materials, but it is quite solvable."
