The first MODI on Arbat

The new retail chain MODI, which is being developed by the famous Russian businessman Igor Sosin, will open its first store in the very center of Moscow, on Arbat Street. JLL acted as a consultant for the lease of a room with an area of about 480 square meters. The store will open on September 16, 2017.

Igor Sosin is known as the founder and ex-owner of the home goods chain «Old Man Hottabych», ex-co-owner of hypermarkets OBI and owner of fashion stores Modis. As part of his new project MODI Igor Sosin plans to create Russia's largest chain of stores of useful and unusual goods with an original design and a positive mood.

To date, there are no analogues of MODI in Russia. The new format of stores is based on the principle of emotional shopping: «unique, necessary and funny»– so briefly you can describe the range of MODI, which includes electronics and accessories, stationery, holiday goods, home, animals, travel and sports, as well as cosmetics, toys and entertainment, fashion accessories and fun food.

The Arbat store will feature more than 2,000 items, most of which were developed by a creative design team specifically for MODI. By 2020, it is planned to open more than 200 stores MODI.

Olga Gerasimova, CEO of MODI, says: "MODI – these are stores where a special emotional atmosphere is created. You come to us for the mood and original things, while receiving excellent service and goods at really affordable prices. Trending designs and "fan" products are what the MODI team is betting on. The atmosphere of the legendary Arbat Street fully corresponds to the mood of our brand. In honor of the opening of the store, promotions and events will be held for our guests, and interesting gifts are waiting for the first customers.

Natalia Ozernaya, Deputy head of the street retail department of JLL in Moscow, comments: "Choosing a site for opening a debut store in street retail is a complicated process, and for MODI we were looking for a location with intensive pedestrian traffic, which guarantees high turnover and brand awareness. Arbat, one of the oldest pedestrian streets of the capital, retains its popularity among residents of the city, domestic and foreign tourists, thanks to which this shopping corridor holds its position in the top of the most popular in the city among retailers. Arbat is an excellent choice for new brands that are just entering the market, jewelry, souvenirs, and emotional demand goods. In our opinion, the MODI store on Arbat, located in a convenient location and having large storefronts, will become the flagship in the retailer's network and will ensure a successful business start.
