Leading IT companies Nielsen and Microsoft have published data on a recently developed solution for corporate data management Nielsen Connect, using the capabilities of the intelligent cloud platform Microsoft Azure.

Nielsen and Microsoft

Microsoft and Nielsen jointly help companies working in the field of consumer goods (FMCG) and retail to develop and innovate within an open data environment.

Nielsen Connect allows you to extract more value from the available data and demonstrates the need to rethink the strategic approach to their use. With in-depth analytics and intelligent services based on Azure, Nielsen Connect helps companies integrate data arrays to more easily identify emerging trends, identify performance issues and act faster when opportunities for growth and development arise. The platform allows customers to use data as a corporate asset in all departments of the organization.

Comments John Tavolieri, President Nielsen US FMCG Vertical and Global President of Technology and Operations: "Nielsen data represents an important corporate asset along with employees and products. Our main task is to make sure that customers use their data as efficiently as possible, for which Nielsen, together with Microsoft, are destroying existing obstacles in this area. By creating a truly open global environment for collaboration, we are helping the retail industry to rethink the established approach to data use. The new system encourages companies to develop and go beyond simple information management. Adopting a holistic data strategy will be the only way to succeed in retail and FMCG.

Comments Judson Althoff, Executive Vice President Microsoft Worldwide Commercial Business: "The first critical step towards digital transformation, especially for retailers, should be the destruction of barriers between consumer and operational data, necessary to obtain important analytical business conclusions. Since retail sales take place where customers are and when they wish, Nielsen Connect provides high reliability, allowing you to work continuously and on a global scale. Microsoft is a Nielsen partner that international enterprises trust to protect their data and work with mission-critical business solutions.

Platform Nielsen Connect uses the largest amount of FMCG data available. It enables companies to analyze and better understand market processes, assessing the situation from several points of view. Nielsen's deep media and consumer dimensions (including cross-platform media data, data from retail outlets, consumer panels, e-commerce sources and fresh food outlets) are integrated with a large number of other information sources, including data directly from Nielsen Connect customers and partners. Nielsen reference data, which helps companies get the most reliable and structured sales information, allows the Nielsen Connect system to simplify the integration of data from different sources and countries. Thanks to an open and flexible platform running on Microsoft Azure, customers can easily access information through APIs and drivers that will be useful for implementing their own technology strategy.

A joint solution of Microsoft and Nielsen is available now. It will work as a universal store platform for creating scalable, high-performance data environments, thanks to which companies will be able to achieve results faster. Within the framework of the strategic alliance, both companies will continue to implement a joint vision of an open and interconnected information universe, providing a new generation of solutions for FMCG and retail.
